Ally Bank's "Buckets" feature allows customers to organize and visualize up to 10 different savings goals within a single Online Savings Account, simplifying goal tracking and eliminating the need for multiple accounts.
Ally Bank needed a way to explain their innovative Buckets feature without overwhelming potential customers with interface screenshots or technical jargon. The challenge was showing how one savings account could be organized into multiple goal-based categories (vacation fund, emergency savings, new car, etc.) in a way that felt simple and intuitive. We created a clean, minimalist animated banking video that demonstrates the feature visually, making abstract financial organization feel concrete and achievable.

Project Overview
The Challenge: Digital banking features can feel abstract and confusing. Ally Bank’s Buckets tool allows customers to organize up to 10 different savings goals within a single account (no need for multiple accounts), but explaining this concept through text or static screenshots doesn’t capture the simplicity and visual clarity of the actual experience.
The Solution: We designed a 90-second animated explainer video using clean, minimalist line art illustration. Rather than showing the app interface directly, we created visual metaphors. Animated pie charts split a total savings balance into individual “buckets.” Money flows visually from the Core Savings bucket into goal-specific categories. Custom icons represent different goals (beach umbrella for Hawaii vacation, house for home savings, graduation cap for education).
The Results: Ally Bank gained a product demo video that makes a potentially confusing feature feel approachable and desirable. The video clearly communicates functionality (“organize your savings”), benefits (“no hard math required”), and flexibility (“change settings whenever you want”). Perfect for website product pages, app store listings, email campaigns, and social media promotion.
Key Features Demonstrated
Goal-Based Organization: The video shows how customers can create separate buckets for specific financial goals. Emergency fund, vacation (customized as “Hawaii”), home down payment, education, vehicles, or entirely custom categories like “New laptop.” Visual clarity replaces abstract banking terminology.
Up to 10 Buckets Per Account: Animation demonstrates the flexibility of managing multiple goals simultaneously without opening separate accounts. Money coming in goes to the Core Savings bucket first, then users distribute it however they want.
Easy Transfers & Tracking: We animated the flow of money between buckets to show how simple it is to reallocate funds. Progress indicators visually demonstrate savings growth over time, making goal achievement feel tangible and motivating.
No Multiple Accounts Needed: The video emphasizes the key value proposition. One Online Savings Account handles everything. Simplified management. No juggling login credentials for multiple accounts.

Why This Approach Works for Fintech Products
Financial technology features are inherently abstract. You can’t physically touch a “bucket” or see savings goals with your eyes. Text descriptions require customers to imagine how the feature works, creating friction and doubt. Static screenshots show the interface but don’t demonstrate the dynamic experience of organizing and tracking savings.
Animation solves both problems. Visual metaphors make abstract concepts concrete. You see money flowing, buckets filling, progress bars growing. The story unfolds in 90 seconds, showing exactly how the feature simplifies personal finance without requiring customers to read lengthy FAQs or watch a boring screen recording.
The minimalist illustration style keeps focus on functionality, not flashy graphics. Friendly voiceover creates warmth and approachability. The message is clear: this banking feature is for real people with real goals, not just financial experts.
Customers who watch product demo videos like this are 40-60% more likely to sign up because they already understand what they’re getting. The “I need to think about it” friction disappears. They’ve seen it work. They want it.
