This mixed-media member education video for Ladysmith & District Credit Union, a community credit union on Vancouver Island, introduces TextAlerts, its account-alert fraud protection, through Sunny, the safari-suited explorer mascot who treats banking safety like a jungle survival adventure, then lands the lesson with a clean, step-by-step portal walkthrough.

About This Credit Union Member Education Video
The Challenge: Account alerts only protect members who actually turn them on, and “log in and configure your notification settings” is nobody’s idea of an exciting message. LDCU needed members to care enough to do it.
The Solution: We built the message around a charming explorer mascot, a bright orange character in a pith helmet trekking through misty rainforest, open seas, and hot-air-balloon skies, framing fraud protection as staying safe in the wild. Then the video switches to a crisp screen recording of the real LDCU portal with yellow highlight circles guiding every click, and closes on a comedic “unusual activity” lion encounter.
The Result: A 93-second piece that makes a small credit union feel warm and approachable while giving members an exact, replicable path to switching TextAlerts on.
Key Features That Make This Credit Union Explainer Work
- A mascot with personality: the explorer character gives a small institution a big, friendly brand presence.
- Adventure framing: “banking safety as jungle survival” turns a settings tutorial into a story members remember.
- A real, followable walkthrough: the actual portal interface with yellow focus highlights means members can mirror every step on their own screen.
- Humor that humanizes: the lion-triggered activity alert ends the video on a laugh, exactly the tone a community credit union wants.

Why Animation Works for Credit Union Member Education
Feature announcements from financial institutions get ignored because they read like terms and conditions. Members skim past exactly the tools built to protect them.
A character-led story earns the attention first, then the tutorial converts it into action. Our explainer video work uses the same one-two: emotion opens the door, clarity walks members through it.
For community institutions especially, a warm mascot does double duty: it teaches the feature and builds the brand members feel loyal to.
